Katherine Wheeler is a Central Victorian artist, based in Castlemaine. Having completed a Diploma of Fine Arts from RMIT in 2003, Katherine graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Gold and Silversmithing from RMIT in 2007.

Katherine's work is influenced by her immediate surroundings (domestic and landscape), traditional crafts, collection, marine life and marine habitats, human influence on the natural world and life and death in the natural world.

Katherine mainly makes sculptural jewellery, and hollowware that combine materials such as thin silver, porcelain, paper and thread. The works and materials are often ‘camouflaged’ under white paint, to create a new skin for the forms which are anthropomorphic, the white bleaches the forms leaving them with the appearance of  shell or bone.

Katherine's work has been shown in galleries such as Gallery Marzee, (The Netherlands), Objectspace (New Zealand) The Powerhouse Museum, Object Gallery, Craft Victoria (Australia), The National Gallery of Victoria (Australia), with a group of hollow ware works represented by Charon Kransen Arts at SOFA Chicago and SOFA New York.
